Sega have released a patch for the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5. The major feature of this patch is the ability to don mismatching clothing. In other words, you can wear different items of different player costumes at the same time.
Along with the patch, Sega have also provided a short FAQ for those hopeful fans. The disappointing news from that FAQ is that
there are no further plans for game updates after this patch
there are no further plans for additional downloadable items
and no, there will be no patch to allow online play for the PS3 version

Rematches in Online VS. Player Matches now possible even when the players haven’t added their opponent to their friends list
One additional item per character (appears as “Downloaded item” in Costume settings/Item edit dialog)
Gamer pictures will now be shown in online battles
After winning the World Tournament Final, it’s now more likely that rivals you have not defeated will be playing in arcades
When someone joins an online match, you can now see their connection quality
Various fixes for minor bugs, including a texture bug
Easier sorting of rankings
