Toshiba HD DVD Xbox Rumor

An unnamed Toshiba rep has claimed that Microsoft may team up with the company to make a new Xbox 360 which will incorporate not only a new HD DVD drive but a larger hard drive and new entertainment software. The souped up machine, which would potentially add more to Sony’s PS3 woes, may arrive as early as late 2008, so the rumour goes.
An Xbox with a built in HD DVD drive is critical. They and we are working on it. It also has to be more than a gaming machine. Microsoft recognise this. A version of the device may also be sold under the Toshiba brand name.
According to Smarthouse, Toshiba’s 360 would boast:
There’s also unsubstantiated talk of a new open standard chassis system that allows an Xbox to be docked with a 40-inch+ HD TV screen. These same docks will allow hard drives to be upgraded and expanded, just like in PC’s.
