MScape gaming handheld will turn your world into a videogame

HP unveiled a new (and currently unnamed) handheld gaming device yesterday. It uses their Mscape gaming software which takes in information about the world from mobile devices and transforms it into game data. The trailer promo (after the jump) implies that it is some sort of lens through which the real world is rendered just like a videogame, although there is no way such a device could achieve this in real time. More likely is that it cues up the appropriate graphics when prompted by sensors on the device.

Even if this prototype gets off the ground, I cant see it sustaining anything more substantial than its initial novelty appeal. But then again, the creative game design it could potentially inspire may prove me wrong.
