OneeChanbara movie opens in Japan next week

April 19th, 2008

OneeChanbara opens in theatres across Japan on April 26.

The film adaptation of the (mostly) Japan-exclusive zombie slasher game OneeChanbara is set to open in theatres across Japan on April 26. A scantily-clad Japanese katana-wielding cowgirl fighting hordes of zombies? I’d say there’s a large audience for this regardless of their familiarity with the game.

Huge Left 4 Dead video

A very long video for the Valve/Turtle Rock game Left 4 Dead has made its way to the internet. The 85 minute video shows off use of the hunters rifle, nice fire effects and some blood splattering gore. The game is slated for a early 2008 release, check after the jump for the video.

GC ‘07 - Dead Island impressions

August 23rd, 2007

deadisland7

Being a rabid zombie fan, I was naturally drooling from the moment I first heard about Techland’s upcoming zombie/survival horror title, Dead Island. After being shown some of the first level today at GC, I just wish it was 2008 already.

Dead Island is not Dead Rising 2

August 9th, 2007

Techland, developers of Call of Juarez, have announced a new zombie/survival horror game dubbed Dead Island. Apparently a lot of work has been put into a real-time deformation engine, which means you’ll be leaving these zombies with ultra-realistic wounds and injuries. Sounds wonderfully brutal.

While what we’ve been shown of the game so far seems to tread awfully close to Capcom’s Dead Rising in more than just name, I’m pretty sure Capcom will be the only people on earth who care about that. After all, it’s not as if Dead Rising itself wasn’t entirely derivative of the movie Dawn of the Dead - yet we ate it up and asked for more.

Left 4 Dead at QuakeCon 2007

July 26th, 2007

Left4Dead

Attendees of QuakeCon 2007 will be treated to a hands-on session with Turtle Rock Studio & Valve’s upcoming release, Left 4 Dead. So if you’re in Dallas, Texas from August 2nd to the 5th, you can be the first of many to sample this 4-player zombie shooter.

Valve gave gamers their first taste of this one at Showdown LAN 2007. Those who attended reportedly dug its frantic, claustrophobic feel; essential components of any zombie experience. Teamwork will be an important focus in L4D, which could make this a drop-dead hit at QuakeCon.

Left 4 Dead is officially scheduled for a release in the fourth quarter of 2007 on Xbox 360 and PC.
