Top 25 Amazon Sales - 4/16/09

April 16th, 2009

We’re going to take a look at the list of top video game sales from Amazon. This list doesn’t count the systems, accessories, or downloadables. I always found it weird that Amazon had a section of “Top Video Games” and they count accessories and the like. I’ve compiled the top 25 games so you don’t have to. There’s some analysis after the jump.

1.Wii Fit - Wii

2.Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel - Wii

3.Pokemon Platinum - DS

4.Wii Sports Resort (Pre-Order) - Wii

5.Wii Play with Wii Remote - Wii

6.My Fitness Coach - Wii

7.Professor Layton and the Curious Village - DS

8.Killzone 2 - PS3

Weekly Online Deals

April 8th, 2009

Taking a look around online, I found some good products on Amazon this week for each of the systems.

PS2:
Katamari Damacy - $9.97 - I love Katamari Damacy and although there have been later games, the whole concept is still the same. I don’t really think there was too much evolution in the game, but the original was the groundbreaker.

Wii:

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - $22.50 - Now this is a game that’s just fun. If you’re in need for a good party game, look no further.

PS3:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - $39.99 - I got this game back when they had the PS3 bundle and I played it all the way through. The game was riveting and although I’m not huge on action/adventure games MGS4 was captivating.

Xbox360:

Assassin’s Creed - $23.99 - I know a sequel has come out, but if you haven’t gotten into the game definitely take a look. It didn’t hit the Platinum/Greatest hits status for nothing.

DS:

Kirby Super Star Ultra - $26.99 - I know that the price change isn’t much, but if I had to pick a definite 2-D Kirby game, this one is it. The Super Nintendo version was a classic and the little touches added to the DS version fills out the game. Some people may think that the game is a little short, but the mini-games keeps this one fresh.

Music game controller compatibility update

April 6th, 2009

Music game controller compatibility gets more complex.

We’ve just got word from Microsoft that Guitar Hero: Metallica will be the first game (that isn’t Lips) to support Lips wireless microphones. Additionally, we’ve tested the Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band USB microphones with SingStar on the PS3, and found that they don’t work.

Do the Guitar Hero World Tour instruments work with Rock Band 2, and vice versa? [Gizmag]

There’s also a Snowblind Map Pack set for release on March 31 that includes three new maps (Grindyard, Under Hill and Courtyard) and an updated version of a fan favorite from the original Gears, Fuel Depot. No price has been announced, but we’re guessing it’s going to be 800 Microsoft points.

Gears of War 2 Title Update 3 coming with a laundry list of fixes

March 3rd, 2009

Gears of War 2 Title Update/Patch 3 coming.

In my post How Epic broke Gears of War 2 multiplayer, I was quite vocal about the disappointing state of the multiplayer game compared to the polished and undeniably awesome campaign - and many of you agreed.

Thankfully, help is on the way with Title Update 3 (that’s Patch 3 for those of you who don’t speak Microsoft) which is in final testing and should be certified and released within four weeks.

Some interesting fixes and additions are as follows:

- Country preference added

- Players who quit will be replaced by bots

How Epic broke Gears of War 2 multiplayer

December 2nd, 2008

Gears of War 2 Multiplayer: Double Chainsaw

Given how close to perfect the final patch for Gears of War made the multiplayer game, many of us were expecting an even better experience for Gears of War 2. How wrong we were. A few weeks from release and we’re already one patch in to Gears of War 2, and while it made matchmaking a lot faster in most cases, Epic still has a long way to go to make this game the unforgettable beast it could be.

Rumor: Dead Rising 2 in development

November 10th, 2008

Dead Rising 2 rumored to be under development.

A source close to Blue Castle Games has told Eurogamer that the Canadian developers are currently working on Dead Rising 2.

“Everyone’s really excited; the team has obviously seen the rumours and it’s been hard to keep quiet, but they can’t wait to show off the game.”

Capcom Europe refused to comment on the rumor.
