The latest from the rumor mills is that Sam and Max is coming to the Wii. It all started with a German press release from JoWood Studios claiming that their next title would be Sam and Max on the Wii. Of course, 1UP quickly got Telltale Games on the phone to confirm the statement. Here is what Telltale’s Marketing Coordinator, Emily Morganti had to say:

“It’s no secret that we want to bring Sam & Max to the Wii and it is something we’re actively pursuing. We don’t have any official news right now, but when we’re in a position to confirm that we’re porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we’ll make an announcement about it.”

So not a full confirmation, but barring any major obstacles it sounds like it’s well on the way. If it does make its way to the Wii we hope more developers consider point and click adventure games for the perfectly suited system.

If the free episode wasn’t enough to entice you, then maybe the demo of Season 2 Episode 1 will? The episode is called “Ice Station Santa” and it will be out tomorrow. Here is what Telltale had to say about the first episode:

“As in a television sitcom the season premiere kicks off a brand new story arc, enabling new audiences to dive right in along with returning fans. Ice Station Santa finds jolly old Saint Nick a bit off his rocker, terrorizing the elves and sending out presents that range from disappointing to downright dangerous. The future of Christmas hangs in the balance like a hand grenade perched on the shaky bough of a Douglas fir, and it’s up to Sam & Max to set things straight.”

The second episode will come out January with 3 more coming out monthly, finishing in April. If you want the demo keep checking back here.

If you’re like me and haven’t gotten around to playing Sam and Max season 1, then you will be pleased to hear that TellTale Games have decided to offer episode 4 for free. The move comes as a promotion for the release of season 2, episode 1. The free episode (“Abe Lincoln Must Die”) features Sam and Max running for president against the reanimated Lincoln Memorial.

It’s a bit sneaky of them to offer the 4th episode and not the 1st but I’m not complaining. You can download the episode here.
