Last month the OFLC refused classification for Activision’s Soldier of Fortune: Payback, making the distribution of the game illegal in Australia. Activision today announced that a revised version of the game been granted a classification of MA15+ and will be released in early 2008.

The grizzly shooter, Soldier of Fortune: Payback has gone gold, and we now have an achievement list. It’s sure to please the achievement whore in all of us, with some of them looking particularly easy. Soldier of Fortune: Payback is out November 13th on the PC and 360, and November 20th on the PS3. Once again the Office of Film and Literature Classification in Australia has banned a game because of a lack of sufficient ratings. The game in question is Activision’s Soldier of Fortune: Payback, and although reasons weren’t given we presume it’s for excessive gore.
In related news the Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia has stepped up their campaign to have an R18+ rating for videogames in response to the looming federal election. The IEAA says Australia is the only developed democracy in the world without a R18+ classification for games, the result is that if a game exceeds the MA15+ rating it is banned.
