Volume 1 does classic compellations right

We are so used to classic compilations consisting of three or four shoddily ported games, and costing an arm and a leg - but not so with SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1, bringing 16 awesome SNK games to the PS2 and PSP. There is plenty of variety in this pack with games ranging from 2D platformers to fighters to sports games. The best fix we have on a release date is the first half of this year. Check after the jump for a full list of the games.

SNK to release two new 2D fighters for the PlayStation 2

October 1st, 2007

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum

SNK Playmore is set to release two more games for the Playstation 2 this month, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum and The King of Fighters XI.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is a tag team based fighter with what seems to be one of the most bizarre tongue-in-cheek plots ever. The player must battle it out in typical ladder style glory to fight the leader of an organization called “The Warez Conglomerate,” a man hell bent on putting an end to all of Neo Geo’s “most powerful warriors.” Players are offered the choice of characters from one of the many Neo Geo franchise such as Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, King of the Monsters to name a few.

The King of Fighters XI is the expected fare with a few new features and content thrown in for good measure. The new features come in the form of new character switches called Quick Shift and Saving Shift.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is set to be released on the 28th of October, with The King of Fighters XI due on the 4th of October.
