Australians just can’t get enough SingStar - with at least one edition of the game seemingly always in the sales charts. Perhaps that’s why Australia is set to get SingStar PS3 before the rest of the world - with the release date recently set as December 6.
SingStar will cost AUD$59.95 for the standalone game, and $109.95 for the game bundled with two USB microphones.
The only question now is whether there’s enough PlayStation 3 owners down under to keep up the sales chart domination.

The long-awaited SingStar for the PS3 has been given a release date. The game will be released on December 7th in the UK and December 12th in the rest of Europe. The biggest new feature of the game is the SingStore where players can download new tracks into their playlist. To promote the game, Sony will be setting up a SingStar Studio at the O2 Arena in London, with a number of dedicated pods where you and your friends can try out the game.

Hit the jump to find out why on earth you would want the PlayStation Eye without The Eye of Judgment.

SingStar has been dated for North America, arriving on shelves November 13th - some time after the rumored European release later this month.
Looking at the tracklist, I can’t help but think SingStar is spreading itself a bit thin trying to appeal to too many different audiences - Queens of the Stone Age and Blink 182 seem particularly out of place.
What about a (much) cheaper downloadable SingStar, with say, five track downloads from the SingStar Store included in the purchase price? This seems a perfect game to allow people to pick and choose the content they want…shame that paid downloads are being looked at mainly as a way to increase revenue past the original purchase price.
Less ranting and more track listings after the jump.

The lead designer of SingStar PS3 has posted some new information on their blog at IGN. What surprises me most is the mention that there will be new SingStar titles released for the PS2 - lowering the chances of a casual SingStar enthusiast spending $500 on a new PS3 to rock bottom. The real question is, however…will SingStar (and Guitar Hero) still be relevant when Rock Band hits?
