A big patch is on the way for MotorStorm on the PS3. The patch will add rumble support, sensitivity settings for SIXAXIS motion controls, a new “Gloating Index” and changes to positioning rules for online race…among other things.

Virtua Fighter 5 for the Xbox 360 has gone gold and is due out on October 30. What sets the 360 version apart from the PlayStation 3 version is the inclusion of online play and rumble feedback. That’s a definite sting for those that bought the PS3 version - but hey, at least they’ve been playing it for months already.

CVG were recently at an EA event in Tokyo checking out Burnout Paradise. Rather unexpectedly, they noticed the Sixaxis controller they were using was rumbling - just like back in the day! Upon inspection, nothing else had changed apart from being noticeably heavier, and having a sticker attached on the bottom that rather cryptically read “RUMBLE.”
Now Kaz Hirai has officially announced the DualShock 3 in his keynote at TGS. The DualShock 3 will be released in Japan this November, with North America and Europe getting in on the action some time in early 2008. No pricing details have been announced.

The latest episode of the 1UP Yours podcast features 1UP employee Shane “confirming” the DualShock 3 will debut at TGS. Strange, as we’d thought that Sony would be the only ones who could confirm or deny such a thing.
What amuses me about this whole situation is the mental image I have of the meeting where Sony big wigs had to decide whether DualShock 3 or Sixaxis 2 was the least ridiculous name for their new controller.

A representative from Gaming Culture learned a valuable lesson today during the Konami press conference at Leipzig Games Convention - ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. One would assume being given the opportunity to ask Hideo Kojima a question with all of the world’s major game press in attendance, would warrant a question of substance. Looks like someone had other ideas…
“I’d like to ask if the final game will support rumble.”
While developer Ken Imaizumi was particularly tactful in his response, essentially “we wish,” Kojima added:
Let me add what I think every day when I am developing. At Kojima Productions, there is a guy who is a specialist doing the rumble feature. We call him “the rumble guy.” Right now, he has nothing to do. I am really worried what I should make him do - so I really hope […] I can make use of him.
Ouch.
