Hellgate: London beta signups open to all

September 19th, 2007

Hellgate: London is the spiritual successor to the massively popular Diablo series, under development by Flagship Studios - founded by a number of former Blizzard North employees who created Diablo.

Flagship’s idea of giving beta keys out only to customers who pre-ordered the game obviously didn’t achieve the kind of numbers they were expecting, so now everyone is welcome to sign up, albeit with no guarantee of getting in on the action.

World of Warcraft hits nine million subscribers

July 25th, 2007

Hey ladies!

Blizzard Entertainment have announced a new milestone for their award-winning time-pit, World of Warcraft. Over nine million people now pay a monthly fee for their fix, placing Blizzard on top of an ever-growing mountain of cash…and with the Burning Crusade expansion yet to be released in China, there’s plenty of growth still on the cards.

Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime is justifiably chuffed:

We’re thrilled that gamers around the world have continued to embrace World of Warcraft so enthusiastically. We’ve worked hard to provide a compelling experience for our players, and we plan to continue updating the game with exciting new content for them to enjoy for many years to come.
