The prompt patching of Rock Band in lieu of hardware problems has actually caused a separate issue for some previously-unaffected owners. The patch has solved strum problems for some people, for others it has made no difference, and others have previously-operational controllers double-strumming. On the upside, EA has vowed to honor warranties - though it will take two weeks for a replacement to arrive.

The World of Warcraft 2.3 patch has launched, and it’s a biggie. Dust Wallow Marsh sees the most changes with about 50 new quests, a new town and instance. Another new introduction is Guild Banks where a guild master can manage the guild’s loot. It is now faster to level from 20 to 60, with the amount of experience needed going down, and the amount of experience given for quests increasing. To see the full list of notes, check after the jump - I’m warning you though, it’s huge.

Those trying to play Gears of War on the PC might be running into a bit of trouble. A bug in the update system is preventing a recently released patch from installing completely. If you want you can use this method to get it all working, but to be honest it seems like a lot more work than is necessary when you can just download the patch from here and install it the old-fashioned way.

If you were disappointed with Team Fortress 2’s performance on the Xbox 360 you’ll be pleased to know that it should run like butter the next time you sign in. A patch released on the weekend included these changes:
- Reduced network bandwidth usage in multiplayer.
- Improved overall game performance.
- Arranged search results to favor preferred host conditions.
- Improved searching for ranked games.
- Addressed a possible false report of too little storage space on larger hard drives.
Now if only they released games that didn’t require patching to make them playable.

The long-overdue patch for Shadowrun is set to hit Live early next week, and Live for Windows soon after. Of course, FASA Studios and Microsoft would rather you called it a “Title Update.”
The patch addresses a number of issues with the game, the most notable of which are the ridiculous delays in finding an online match, and the lengthy resynchronization period whenever a new player joins an active game. Apparently, both these have been reduced by a healthy margin.
