BBC iPlayer now available on Wii Internet Channel

BBC’s iPlayer now available on the Wii.

The BBC has released an early test version of their iPlayer video service for the Nintendo Wii. Unfortunately the service is only available for license-fee payers in the UK, but if you meet the criteria, fire up the Internet Channel and hit bbc.co.uk/iplayer - then come back here and tell us what it was like!

Wii Opera Browser update adds USB keyboard support

Gamers across the world have been waking up to glowing Wiis, signifying an update to the Internet Channel and the Everybody Votes Channel, adding USB keyboard support among lesser tweaks.

Wii update adds USB keyboard support…kind of

Yeah, so the Wii is great and all, but on-screen keyboards have to be one of the most horrendous detractors of usability out there - and the main reason I still use my old beater Powerbook for browsing YouTube in the living room, instead of the equally-capable Wii.

A bunch of curious gamers have plugged USB keyboards into their Wii’s since the latest update, and determined that certain areas of the interface now support keyboard input - unfortunately, the Internet Channel is not one of these areas.
