Recently, Flagship’s latest creation opened its multiplayer gates to the general public. In a time where genre-hybridization is becoming increasingly popular, Hellgate’s FPS-RPG combination does not particularly break new ground, but has proven to be an effective formula – as long as the minor creases are ironed out before its Halloween release.
Hellgate: London is the spiritual successor to the massively popular Diablo series, under development by Flagship Studios - founded by a number of former Blizzard North employees who created Diablo.
Flagship’s idea of giving beta keys out only to customers who pre-ordered the game obviously didn’t achieve the kind of numbers they were expecting, so now everyone is welcome to sign up, albeit with no guarantee of getting in on the action.
