Amazon have added over thirty HD DVD titles to their 50% off sale including Black Snake Moan and Transformers. Hit the jump for more HD DVD and Blu-ray bargains.
Director Michael Bay, the man behind Transformers, The Rock and Bad Boys, has accused Microsoft of some well planned sabotage of the video format market. On his official website he claims:
Microsoft wants both [HD DVD and Blu-ray] formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about
They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just [to] embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray [sic]
A conspiracy theory regarding Microsoft’s plan for world domination? Bay may need to be reminded that this has been done many times before.

This Sunday brought deals a plenty from Best Buy with the biggest being a free bundling of Heroes Season 1 on HD DVD with the purchase of a HD DVD drive for the 360. The HD box-set normally retails for $99 and with the HD DVD drive selling at $179.99 you are getting an amazingly good deal. Other deals include a free comic with a purchase of Conan, a wrasslin’demo when you pre-order Smackdown vs Raw 2008 and a free bonus disc with pictures, trailers and songs when you pre-order Mass Effect.
While the other retailers didn’t have much to offer, rumor has it that next week Circuit City will be offering a free guitar stand with Guitar Hero III and a free Homer ball with The Simpsons Game.

Microsoft announced a new price for their Xbox 360 HD DVD player add-on today at Comic-Con 2007. Starting August 1, the price will drop to $179 - if you’re in the US, that is. Purchase one in between August 1 and September 30 and you’ll nab five free HD DVD movies. Bargain, I tells you.
