With the launch of this game a year away, we’re making it our duty to report on all the news, rumors and tidbits we can find regarding Ghostbusters. The folks at IGN were actually able to get a tiny peek at the game, bringing back some precious informational nuggets concerning the Wii version: While PC, PS3 and 360 versions will focus on the single player game, the Wii’s emphasis will be on multiplayer.
It’s been a while since we had any new Ghostbusters news, and my life is feeling rather dull as a result. Don’t pass the Prozac just yet though - because I have some exciting news regarding the Nintendo DS version. The game will play more like a sim, enabling you to manage your very own ghost-busting operation. You will have to catch ghosts for income that can be spent on better gear and other goodies. It’s good to see the game differing from system to system and not just being a lo-fi port. It’s going to be an expensive day when these games launch.
It just wouldn’t feel right to go through the day without another Ghostbusters update - so it’s lucky we have one. In addition to Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Ernie Hudson, Ghostbusters will also feature Annie Potts (Janine the receptionist), Brian Doyle Murray (the psychiatrist from the second film), and William Atherton (Walter Peck). Unfortunately, Rick Moranis is not involved with the project as yet.
The gaming world has gone Ghostbusters crazy with new news coming in every day. Gamestop are eager to capitalize on the excitement by offering pre-orders and free overnight shipping, even though the game is still a year away from release.
In much more exciting news we have possibly the biggest tease of a teaser trailer we have ever seen at the top of the post. Best of all, Attack of the Show have exclusive footage of the game that can be been on G4TV here.
Oh my, there is only so much Ghostbusters news you can take in one week without crying tears of joy. Vivendi have confirmed that Ghostbusters will feature both multiplayer and co-op mode. We also have a spectacular screen shot to show you all.
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Ghostbusters, co-op… I think I’m hyperventilating.
Who are you going to call? That is, who are you going to call when you wet yourself upon reading that there is a Ghostbusters game in the works? Game Informer broke the story and are staying tight lipped until their December issue is out. What we do know is that Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are on board to reprise their roles, and that Aykroyd and Ramis are writing the script.
The game is being made for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PC. I’m pretty sure gripping the Wiimote and yelling “don’t cross the streams” will never get old.
