Havok tools have been used in high-caliber games like BioShock, Halo 3 and MotorStorm - and now you can use them for free.
The Intel-sponsored release allows any developer to build a commercial PC game using the Havok tools - and if you’re selling your game for under $10, you don’t need to worry about getting a license to release it.

Free online first-person shooters are typically lackluster affairs - built on ancient engines by enthusiastic, but ultimately talentless teams. Combat Arms looks to change all that - sporting production values equal to that of many recent full-price titles.

EA have gone above and beyond the call of duty by offering those with defective Rock Band controllers a free game with their fix. The once unfortunate sods now get to choose the game of their liking from 14 EA titles. And they aren’t the crap you find at the bottom of the bargain bin either, but recent titles like Skate, The Simpsons Game and even another copy of Rock Band (no controllers though).
Those wanting to get in on the generosity will have to head over to this site by January 11th. Check after the jump for a full list of games.

Ubisoft have announced that their long running turn-based strategy franchise, Heroes of Might and Magic, will be hitting web browsers. Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms will be playable for no monetary fee, but you’ll be hassled by advertising to entice you to buy items or gold. When it comes to playing online against thousands of people however, it’s a pretty small price to pay.
For those who live in the UK and wish to partake in the beta all you have to do is buy a copy of the Heroes of Might and Magic Complete Edition for your code. We aren’t sure how the rest of the world gets in on the beta, but your best bet is to head over to the game’s website and sign up for updates.

After a slight delay last month, Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction, will be hitting PC’s today. The PhysX-powered shooter from NetDevil is a free download from the official site, or FileShack. The 437mb download includes six levels which feature the heavily destructible environments NetDevil’s been boasting about. While its probably not going to cause me to run out and buy a PhysX card (as this is not an essential requirement), it is definitely worth checking out.

Microsoft UK have decided to go the way of Amway and convince you to rope your friends into buying their own Xbox 360. Okay, it’s not really like Amway - because if your friend decides to buy an Xbox 360, both of you receive 10 free Live Arcade games. They aren’t crap games either - the list includes Bomberman Live, Every Extend Extra Extreme, SFII Hyper Fighting and Sonic. Some other European countries have been running the same promo for some months but there is no word on it happening over the pond yet.

If you’re like me and haven’t gotten around to playing Sam and Max season 1, then you will be pleased to hear that TellTale Games have decided to offer episode 4 for free. The move comes as a promotion for the release of season 2, episode 1. The free episode (“Abe Lincoln Must Die”) features Sam and Max running for president against the reanimated Lincoln Memorial.
It’s a bit sneaky of them to offer the 4th episode and not the 1st but I’m not complaining. You can download the episode here.
