My Grand Theft Auto IV comedown just got a lot easier thanks to a relief package from Ubisoft that turned up today, containing Haze and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Look for reviews in the coming weeks.

This NES port of Final Fantasy VII is far from your average rip-off. It’s the work of a gifted group of Chinese programmers, who utilized revolutionary techniques to squeeze a relatively complete version of the PSone classic onto a cartridge that plays on ancient 8-bit hardware.

Hiromichi Tanaka will be participating as International Keynote for the Austin Game Developers Conference (Austin GDC), taking place September 5-7 at the Austin Convention Center in Texas. Tanaka left University to join newly-founded Square in 1983, and his impressive CV includes designing the first three Final Fantasy games, and more recently, taking the role of lead developer for Final Fantasy XI Online. His keynote will address the trials and tribulations of designing a cross-platform massively multiplayer online game.
