Europe, Australia still waiting for Rock Band release date

May 27th, 2008

Europe, Australia still waiting for Rock Band release date.

In the UK, France and Germany, Rock Band is available now - but only for the Xbox 360. Other versions will arrive later “this Summer”. There is still no news for the rest of Europe, nor Australia.

Seems crazy, with copycat Guitar Hero World Tour preparing for a pre-Christmas launch. Of course, I still think PS3 owners should import Rock Band if they’re sick of waiting. I paid a lot less than £180 / EUR 240 - and that was with super-expensive 7-day International shipping from the US to Australia.

Why PAL PS3 users should import Rock Band.

Those of our readers who are outside the US and still eagerly awaiting Rock Band may have heard the ugly rumor that PlayStation 3 owners outside the US wouldn’t be getting their fix until September. As an Australian who has been playing the game since 2007, I ask you this - what exactly are you waiting for?

The European Commission offers developers tax break

December 13th, 2007

The European Commission offers developers tax break
The European Commission has awarded the same tax breaks the film industry receives to game developers. The move came after the French governments lobbied for the changes. Developers whose games meet the criteria of “quality, originality and contribution to cultural diversity” are eligible to receive a 20% tax break. Current estimates of this year’s games predict that about half of them would be eligible to receive the break.

It goes without saying that this move represents another gradual step towards games being recognized as an artistic medium.
