Members of Finland’s Tampere University of Technology Student Union and Universimo gaming company have teamed up to build the world’s largest Tetris game. The team used the windows of the Mikontalo student housing complex staircase to create giant color changing pixels that can be controlled by a mobile phone. The university plans to implement other student created games on the wall as well.
Too bad the guy playing in the video sucks at Tetris.
Jerry Bruckheimer has said in a Collider.com interview that he plans to start shooting Prince of Persia in June. The plans are still up in the air though with the writers’ strike still in force. Bruckheimer is very positive about the projects recently appointed director, Mike Newell, saying:
“He’s a very inventive, ingenious director, and I think he’s going to bring something really special to it. We have a screenplay, we’re just starting to develop.”
Growing up in a Mac household wasn’t easy when you had a voracious appetite for games - but at least the LucasArts games eased the pain. Arguably there is no real need to ease the pain of an iPhone user, but old LucasArts games are coming to the iPhone anyway - thanks to a very neat port of the ScummVM emulator. Scumm is the engine used to create several classic adventure games such as Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, and Loom - and ScummVM allows flawless playback of these titles on current computers and devices.
Check after the jump for a list of the supported games.
If you are like me and don’t really like to wear a watch, maybe these beauties will change your mind as they did mine. Nixon are currently developing prototypes of a Tetris and Pong watch, and there is talk that they might be making it to production very soon. The hardest part now (apart from the wait) will be deciding which model you want. More pics after the jump.
This one of a kind guitar was featured in Make Mag this week. The SPECIMEN Custom Guitar was made in 1998 and is complete with blinking headstock. I sure hope the guy that bought it was in a classic video game music cover band.
Now that the Famicom support is discontinued you’ll probably want to not play it too much as to preserve its mint condition. Luckily you can still play the games on your DS, thanks to the Cyber Familator cart. Sure you could just emulate the games but it doesn’t hold quite the amount of street cred as walking around with the original cartridge. Although the Famicom and NES have different cart shapes you will be able to buy a converter for all your NES playing needs. No word on the cost, but it most likely won’t make it out of Japan.
Germans aren’t usually known for monkeying around, but that’s exactly what’s going on at the Computer Games Museum in Berlin. While undergoing construction, the museum jumped at the opportunity to convert the scaffolding into a giant Donkey Kong level. Brings a tear to the eye, doesn’t it?
