Ubisoft and Majesco go for casual games

Both Ubisoft and Majesco have taken a financial interest in the growing popularity of casual games. Ubisoft are doing things the usual Ubisoft way, acquiring Petz developer Digital Kids to do it for them. Majesco is going out alone though, creating its own casual games studio that will be located in LA.

Men are ashamed of casual gaming

Men are ashamed of casual gaming

A study by the Casual Games Association has revealed that men are ashamed of casual gaming. Even though they are ashamed to do so, men devote just as much time to casual games as women, but women buy ¾ of the games. Jessica Tams, managing director of the association had this to say about the reason behind the trend:

“It was really shocking for everybody. We knew these guys were playing these games. But the hard-core gamer who is playing Halo with his buddies isn’t going to brag that he just beat the next level of Zuma.”

This problem would probably be overcome if casual game companies just employed the guy from the Unreal series that says “head shot” and “godlike”.
