Taking a look around online, I found some good products on Amazon this week for each of the systems.
PS2: Katamari Damacy - $9.97 - I love Katamari Damacy and although there have been later games, the whole concept is still the same. I don’t really think there was too much evolution in the game, but the original was the groundbreaker.
Wii:
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - $22.50 - Now this is a game that’s just fun. If you’re in need for a good party game, look no further.
PS3:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - $39.99 - I got this game back when they had the PS3 bundle and I played it all the way through. The game was riveting and although I’m not huge on action/adventure games MGS4 was captivating.
Xbox360:
Assassin’s Creed - $23.99 - I know a sequel has come out, but if you haven’t gotten into the game definitely take a look. It didn’t hit the Platinum/Greatest hits status for nothing.
DS:
Kirby Super Star Ultra - $26.99 - I know that the price change isn’t much, but if I had to pick a definite 2-D Kirby game, this one is it. The Super Nintendo version was a classic and the little touches added to the DS version fills out the game. Some people may think that the game is a little short, but the mini-games keeps this one fresh.
Ubisoft’s massively hyped Assassin’s Creed is an interesting one - an ambitious mix of history and science-fiction, with action and stealth gameplay. Ubisoft and Jade Raymond, producer of the game, certainly had no trouble drumming up a massive buzz for the game - but did the game come through with the goods?
Ubisoft have officially announced Assassin’s Creed Altair’s Chronicles for the DS. The game features a relatively gorgeous 3D world in which to perform Altair’s acrobatic moves and combo attacks, comprising of a mixture of swordplay and kicks. Sure, we knew about it months ago - but the screen shots are so nice it’s hard not to get excited.
Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles will go on sale sometime this February. Check after the jump for a full press release.
This week’s installment from our favorite fast talker has him go up against Assassin’s Creed. You would think Yahtzee would be tearing holes in it, but he doesn’t. Okay, it wouldn’t be a Zero Punctuation review if he didn’t tear holes, but they are decidedly smaller than previous instances and all around it is a “positive” review.
A patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin’s Creed has gone live. The patch addresses the freezing and “white-screen-of-death” issues that some gamers have been experiencing, and should be available through the game interface once you are logged in to the PlayStation Network.
Some Playstation 3 owners were understandably pissed when their version off AC came with bonus technical problems, which included screen tearing, geometry clipping, freezing and frame rate problems. According to a post on their official forums, Ubisoft will be releasing an online update that will “help improve the stability of the game”. An official release date of “as soon as possible” has been named.
Sony have been very quick to fix issues with the PS3’s 2.0 firmware by releasing 2.01. It’s not very exciting being pretty much all tweaks and bug fixes, yet it will be very welcome among Assassin’s Creed and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune players.
Ubisoft just sent out an e-mail reminding us that Assassin’s Creed is now available in stores across Australia and New Zealand. I’ve embedded the TV advertisement currently airing, featuring Massive Attack’s Teardrop.
Those of you who can get to a JB Hi-Fi can get the PlayStation 3 version for free if you trade in two PS3 games, or the Xbox 360 version for free if you trade in three Xbox 360 games - so ring your nearest store and ask about the conditions.
What would be your first thought when you read that the Assassin’s Creed series of books have been scrapped? If you think it was because the books probably sucked, you’re wrong - according to writer Dar Kush.
It’s high time for an update on Assassin’s Creed, as you can almost count the days till its promised release on your toes and fingers. You can tell its gonna be a bumpy ride to the finish line, with news of a few development issues. But if you sit tight and get a load of these new gameplay videos, some of your worries may be eased.
