Dream Arcades have done it again. If you want to bring the arcade experience home, you really couldn’t dream up a better device than the Dreamcade 2.0. The cabinet features a 21-inch monitor, tinted safety glass, integrated trackball, lighted buttons, a Windows-based DreamPC and a collection of more than 145 licensed games including classic titles from Midway, Digital Leisure, Atari, Namco and Capcom. The system will even let you plug in a console if you exhaust your retro capacity. For those wishing the relive their youth, the Dreamcade 2.0 will set you back USD$1,899.

It must make a collector’s blood boil when a rare item in fantastic condition ends up on eBay, gets spotted by a blogger with no intention of purchasing it, and subsequently does the rounds of the entire internet.
Oh well.
The pictured item is a Pong machine manufactured in 1973, before Atari was called Atari. The bid is currently at US $305, with over a week left until the auction finishes.

Virtua Fighter 5 will finally be released in arcades across the US this holiday season, months after the PlayStation 3 version, and shortly after the Xbox 360 version hits on October 30 - an odd strategy from Sega, considering the dwindling arcade scene.

If you’re not totally bummed about the fact it’s not Street Fighter 4, you might want to check out the newly updated website for Sengoku Basara X - Capcom’s upcoming 2D fighter based on the Devil’s Kings series. You’ll find new information on the 10 characters in the game - provided you can read Japanese. If not, there’s a bunch of impressive artwork to keep you excited for the time being.

The U.S. Army-commissionned first-person shooter America’s Army is coming to the arcades as a light-gun game, designed to closely simulate real-life Army training exercises, “immerse the player in the Army culture,” and “create a new communication channel with young Americans.”
Wait a minute…Manhunt 2 gets an AO rating, and this is what you’re feeding the kids instead?
I think Propagandhi said it best:

Let me begin with some sentimental appeals to our national myths; assorted clichés coined by the state; the ideological shorthand meant to sweep your private doubts [away] of this virtual training course. This portal; this Trojan Horse that you living idiots paid for and actually rolled into your own kids’ rooms.
