Make a Pandora’s Battery without a hacked PSP

As if the risk of bricking your PSP wasn’t enough, now you can potentially blow your hand off in the quest to run homebrew on your PSP. A member of legendary console modder Ben Heckendorn’s forum has posted instructions for turning a standard Sony PSP battery into a Pandora’s Battery with a soldering iron, instead of another already homebrew-enabled PSP.
We’re not joking about the blowing your hand off thing either - please take note of the warnings and do not attempt this modification if you aren’t experienced with a soldering iron.

You need thea magic memory stick. Google Pandora GUI 1.5 and find a download link. Then follow the directs once the get the program running. (You will need a PRO DUO Reader)

Lol the only way you can blow your hand off is if you get a fully heated soldering iron and cram in straight into the battery till it melts through and explodes, now if you do that, then your an idiot trying to kill yourself.
another way is if you touch two pins at the same time, now this wont blow up your hand but it will melt your battery and have a chance of blowing up, but it’ll take time to melt through the battery and by the time that happens you can throw it away. Plus even when that happens it is very unlikely to explode.

omfg. i borrowed my bros solder and various other “precision” tools (precision here meaning a pliers, an old knife and an ancient microscope with a cracked lens lol). everyrthing seems to have been flawless so far, but it does take some concentration (the ic is damn small). also, don’t be worried if you have to punch holes in the battery casing, the real battery is inside it again. mine looks like a bit of a wreck but works fine. btw UNSOLDER THE BATTERY FIRST. just remove one of the power (plus or minus), cos i shorted mine during soldering, but it was ok cos there was no battery circuit so i could fix it with a needle…
I’m 13 gimme a break

@3593: They were the sharp LoReal kind. I kept scratchinng the battery til it was open. I ended up poking the cell, and smoke came out. The battery then failed for regular use, but I decided to continue. I put the tweezers under the chip leg and pulled up. Two legs made contact and a few sparks, but there was no apparent damage. Broke the leg off, taped the cover on, and pandora ran fine.

I got a phat battery to downgrade my slim (that works, right?) but my razor slipped and it smoked a little. It didn’t work then as a normal battery, but it seems to be charging ok. Voltmeter says it has 3.7 volts, so I don’t think it was drained or something. I can’t get another battery for a while, so should I hard-mod the battery anyway? Is it broken?
