Play Lair without Sixaxis motion control

Lair was set to be a killer app for the PlayStation 3 - after all, Factor 5 have a great track record for games that involve flight. While one can typically expect to come across a couple of bad reviews for even brilliant titles, Lair has been almost universally bashed for suffering from a lousy Sixaxis implementation - with no option for using the left analog stick.
Indeed, one poster at GAF was so horrified they executed a relatively far fetched last resort - plugging in a USB game pad that didn’t support motion control, and seeing what happened. Turns out in this case, the game reverts to using the left analog stick or directional pad to control flight. Chris Kohler from Game | Life was so desperate he tried an old USB rip-off of a Sega Saturn controller with no analog sticks and while there was no ability to execute lock-on or rage vision, he reported the controls improved significantly.
Apparently there are parts of the game that require shaking the controller to progress, so I’m unable to report on how much of Lair you’ll be able to see using this method.
Digging through the posts at GAF, it seems there’s a chance that control issues could be attributed to older models of the Sixaxis, or faulty controllers - if you’re suffering the same fate as most of the gaming press, and have two or more Sixaxis controllers lying around, it would be worth trying them all out to see if the experience improves.
Regardless, it cannot be long before Factor 5 knock up a quick patch that offers analog stick controls in flight.
