Nokia are about to unleash their revamped N-Gage gaming platform upon the world once again. On this attempt, the platform’s appearance is decidedly more subdued than previous alliterations (and thank god for that). It will find a home on their primary gaming phone, the N81, although other select Nokia phones will also be able to take advantage of the service.

It’s features appear suspiciously “Xboxish”, featuring profiles, friend lists, achievements and play history, among other things.

This week a pre-release of the N-Gage service will launch where at least one game will be available. Nokia are still a little hazy on a time frame for the full service, but we can expect that to occur in a month or so.
