Nintendo producing 1.8 million Wiis per month

If you’re getting frustrated about how hard it is to find a Wii in stock, rest assured that Nintendo aren’t slacking off. George Harrison, the company’s marketing head, has talked about what’s going on with Wii production:
“It takes about five months for us to increase the actual monthly rate of production. We’re at a rate now worldwide of about 1.8 million Wiis produced every month, and that’s going to sustain itself until we get on top of this.”
He also states that regional demand is reviewed every few weeks so that units can be shipped to the needed location.
Another point he raises is that a lot of developers are lining up to publish games for the Wii, but Nintendo are keen to only let unique games make it to the system.
