Holiday period begins, Nintendo America rakes it in

This Toys R Us store in San Antonio, Texas was one of many to be stripped bare of Nintendo products last week. In only the first week of holiday shopping, Nintendo America sold more Nintendo products than at any other time in its history. The money-printing DS set an all-time sales record for Thanksgiving week, with the 653,000+ sold units surpassing the previous 600,000 mark held by the GameBoy Advance in 2005. The 350,000 Wii’s sold during the period has made it the console’s most successful week ever, and earned it the title of the “must have” gift of the 2007 holiday season.
