Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak used to make Tattoo Gun
![]()
Correctional officers in the US don’t mind inmates spending free time playing PS2s, but there’s no love for the Nintendo 64, whose rumble pack is being put to good use in makeshift tattoo guns.
Even in maximum security, where inmates don’t get access to workshops, this is all too easy for prisoners to make in their cells.
The motor from the rumble pack is attached to the top of a tube, such as a pen case, and powered by a battery. Minor modification to the circular movement of the motor (i.e. jamming an eraser in there) is required to push the attached needle in an up-down motion. Get a bunch of different coloured ink from pens, and voila.
They say necessity is the mother of invention, and there’s no doubt that you need that Starfox tattoo in prison.
