Atlus strikes again: Izuna 2 hitting DS this July

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Atlus USA, famous for publishing obscure Japanese games that probably only appeal to tiny niche markets, recently updated their homepage to include Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns, sequel to last year’s roguelike Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja.

Atlus always shines, in my eyes. They’ve brought some great titles into my native tongue that I probably would have never gotten my hands on otherwise, and they’ll always have my respect for that. And you’ve got to give them a tip of the hat on this one: modern roguelikes are hard enough to market, and this videogame is the sequel to a Japanese roguelike that stars a very pink female ninja. Good show, Atlus. I’m sure you’ve made, like, a dozen people very happy.

DS used in Disney navigation system

Finding your way around Disney World can be a headache, and Disney are fixing that by using the world’s favorite handheld. Disney Magic Connection runs on a DS and features a GPS, so you won’t get lost again. The system features map and navigation software, and can inform you of the wait time for various attractions - it also contains games to keep the kids entertained during a long wait for a ride.

Unfortunately you can’t use your own DS for this - probably because no-one would return the cartridges.

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

nintendo_2008_release_date.jpg
Nintendo have unloaded a massive list of planned releases for the first half of 2008, so you can adjust your social calendars accordingly. While there’s a few others to keep me entertained in the meantime, March 25 is going to be the day we can all get stuck into Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword.

The WiiFit will also be stateside by the second quarter, but going by Nintendo’s PAL track record, it could mean next year too.

The game features a relatively gorgeous 3D world in which to perform Altair’s acrobatic moves and combo attacks, comprising of a mixture of swordplay and kicks. Sure, we knew about it months ago - but the screen shots are so nice it’s hard not to get excited.

Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles will go on sale sometime this February. Check after the jump for a full press release.

Sonic RPG being developed by Bioware

It’s a story almost too bizarre to be believed, but the rumors that Bioware are creating a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the DS are indeed true. The news was confirmed when a French gaming site posted some scans from the future issue of Nintendo Power.

The game will be titled Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and will feature 11 playable characters from the franchise. News is that Robotnik, aka Eggman, won’t be the principal baddie. Your character will be controlled exclusively with the stylus (just like Phantom Hourglass) but it is yet unclear whether the combat will be turn based or live action.

That’s the extent of our knowledge at the moment, but judging by the screens we can’t wait for the game. Check after the jump for a few more screens.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games DS trailer

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

It’s weird enough having Sonic in Super Smash Bros Brawl, but having both Sonic and Mario in a game developed by Sega where they don’t kick the crap out of each other is just blasphemous. Apart from the obvious moral outrage we haven’t got much apart from ambivalent feelings towards Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Unless they pull out something massive that isn’t in the video it looks like it’ll be a little dull. But do check out the above trailer for the DS version of the game to form your own (perhaps more optimistic) opinion.
